Moul Announces State Grant for Carroll Valley Borough
9/19/2018
HARRISBURG – Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams) today announced a $425,000 state grant for renovations at the Carroll Valley Sewer and Water Authority’s wastewater treatment plant in Carroll Valley Borough.

The grant, through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program, was approved at this week’s meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). Carroll Valley’s wastewater treatment facility, which was constructed in the late 1970s to treat wastewater from the former Charnita Ski and Golf Resort, became a public system when the resort closed.

According to the CFA, an evaluation of the system last year revealed the need for several critical improvements to clarifiers, UV disinfection equipment, upgrades to the mechanical screening unit and the existing tank, and aeration equipment in the sludge holding facility. Total project cost for the upgrades is $500,000.

“As an advocate for these improvements, I am happy to have played a role in securing this important grant,” said Moul. “The funding will provide crucial health and ecological benefits to the residents of Carroll Valley Borough and their neighbors.”
