State Grants Available for Fishing, Boating and Aquatic Resource Education Programs, Says Moul
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is offering grants for local governments, community groups and sportsman’s clubs that sponsor fishing, boating and water safety and aquatic resource education programs for Pennsylvania youth, says Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams/Franklin).
Applicants can receive up to $5,000 from the PFBC’s Education Grant Program. The funding can be applied to the purchase of equipment, materials and costs associated with field trips for youth involved in outdoor activities associated with fishing, boating and related aquatic education programs.
The Education Grant Program began in 2006. Since its inception, the PFBC has received more than 161 applications requesting nearly $670,000. More than 50 organizations have received $230,000 through the program. The grants are funded by fees collected by the PFBC.
All applications must be postmarked by Jan. 30, 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by April 15, 2010.
